About and method

METHOD

An item is an event, a session within a larger programme, a launch, a commitment, a report or an official meeting linked to UNGA81 with UN involvement between 8 and 29 September 2026, where AI was the main subject or a named strand. Passing mentions are excluded. An item qualifies only if the UN is involved: organised or co organised by a UN organ or entity, held at UN Headquarters or on a UN platform, part of a UN run programme such as Digital@UNGA, or with a UN entity taking part. Independent forums held the same week, such as Climate Week NYC, Concordia and the Clinton Global Initiative, are excluded. Sessions are counted individually where a programme lists them. Items from UNGA80 are excluded. The convener is the lead organiser. The General Debate count covers Member State statements delivered from 22 to 25 September, compiled from UN English channel transcripts and pending verification against official texts. A statement counts when it mentions AI, however briefly. Status as at 26 September 2026.
